Life in a tiny Village
We share a house with two other families and live on half of the top floor. The house is new and, as you can see in the first picture, not yet finsihed being built. We have been setting up our apartment for some time, but it is a long and slow process because things are extremely expensive here and hard to find. We are not yet done setting up and we will add more pictures as we progress. Heres a few interesting tings about our flat:
- We have no closets (none, zilch, nada)
- We have no screen on our windows (bummer)
- The walls are made of concrete with a thin layer of plaster
- We have four (4!) different types of flooring in our small flat. The bedrooms have wood, the hall and Kitchen-Dining-Living Room is tile, the bathroom is a different color and type of tile, and the entry way is marble. Nice variety but I think two styles might have been better.
- They put a huge window in our bedroom door (weve since hung a nice curtain to cover it so future guests can have no fear)
- Our heating system is in under the floor (good idea but takes several hours to warm up and doesnt get things very hot)
- We have a cool balcony (once they finish building the house)
- We get to store all of our shipping boxes (for the return journey) in an attick over our apartment (very cool). There's also a cool trap door in the ceiling to get to it. Fun for the whole family.
- We also have extra space in a basement for our bikes, Fooseball Table and some small storage items (though the area is shared with another couple)
- We also have a separate laundry room in the basement (also shared)
- We also have a small secure storage room in the basement (not shared).
- All of the windows are standard European double pained (nice) with steel shutters (also nice)
- Jennifer was nice enough to let B-House have a corner of one room for his USC banners. Thanks Jennifer!
- We have two guest rooms: one very small and one fairly small but were still glad to have them for our family and supporters. Pricing and Availability are seasonal and subject to change. (Of course I'm kidding! The price is the same all year.)
- Our neighbor across the driveway is a farmer so we can buy fresh fruit (especially apples) for cheap (well, during the harvest season anyway).
